Practise Futures on a Demo Account Before Putting Real Margin at Stake
Binance, OKX, Bybit and Bitget offer demo or testnet futures modes. How readers in Bangladesh can use them to learn order types, leverage and liquidation without risking savings.
Multiple exchanges | Bangladesh | BDT | fees, access and account safety
Futures trading is promoted heavily in Telegram groups and on social media, often with screenshots of huge gains. What those posts rarely show is how quickly a leveraged position can be closed by the exchange when the price moves the wrong way. The good news is that all four major exchanges offer a practice environment with simulated funds. Spending a couple of weeks there teaches the mechanics without touching a single taka of your savings.
Where to find the practice mode
Binance offers a futures testnet and a mock trading option, OKX has a Demo Trading switch in its app menu, Bybit provides a demo trading account toggle, and Bitget includes a demo mode in its futures section. Names and menu positions change with app updates, so if you cannot see the option, search for demo trading in the help centre of the platform you use. The practice balance is separate from your real account and cannot be withdrawn.
What to practise, in order
Start by opening a tiny position with low leverage and finding the estimated liquidation price on the order panel. Then attach a stop loss and take profit and watch them appear in the open positions list. Next, try a limit order that does not fill straight away and cancel it. Finally, deliberately let a small demo position get liquidated so you see exactly what the notification and history look like. That last exercise is uncomfortable but memorable.
Keep a simple trading journal
For every demo trade, write down why you entered, your planned exit, the leverage used and what actually happened. After twenty or thirty trades, review the notes. If most losses came from moving stops or adding to losing trades, that pattern will follow you into a real account. A journal turns practice into feedback instead of just a game.
Know the limits of practice
Demo fills can be smoother than real markets, and nobody feels the same pressure with play money. When you move to a real account, start far smaller than your demo size and read the futures risk disclosure on the platform. Never trade futures with money set aside for rent, school fees or family obligations.

Scenario checkpoint
- Switch on the demo or testnet futures mode before placing any real leveraged order.
- Find the estimated liquidation price on every demo order before you confirm it.
- Let one small demo position liquidate on purpose to learn what the alerts look like.
- Record entry reason, leverage and outcome for each practice trade in a written journal.
